Life's stressors, and how we react to them, can have a profound effect on our medical health as well as our mental health. Likewise, our medical health can impact our mood, anxiety, and ability to cope with stress, particularly when living with a chronic medical illness or physical pain. Stress, medical health, mood, and anxiety form an interactive loop that can affect not only our self-esteem, but also the sense of personal success we experience in our lives. The connection between mental health and our physical experience of ourselves is the cornerstone of my work on emotional well-being.

My training began as a psychologist at Rusk Institute in Manhattan.  Rusk was on the forefront in embracing the mind-body connection and employing a variety of treatment approaches for patients struggling to reconcile difficulties in one or both areas.  In my work since that time, I have refined the use of a wide range of strategies and treatment approaches, depending on the needs of the individual, to achieve desired growth and change.

Another area of focus in my practice has been managing the stress of aging, and issues around both living and dying in the struggle to maintain autonomy in later life. My goal is to understand each person's unique experience in this process, and identify strategies to maximize satisfaction and confidence in difficult decision-making and emotional adjustments.

Over the  past 20 years, I have built a thriving private practice, based in Riverdale, NY, working with adolescents and adults from  ages 13 to 95 years-old to overcome anxiety, trauma, and/or depression, on the path to greater overall self-satisfaction.  It is my belief that change and fulfillment are best achieved through a deepened understanding and integration of our emotions, physical well-being, faith (if desired), and stress management success.
